Major projects – Complex assignments in infrastructure, energy and industry.
As energy, industrial and infrastructure investments grow in scale, the demands on coordination, planning and execution increase.

NYAB delivers large and complex projects across Sweden and Finland, combining specialist expertise, structured planning and the Kraftsamla collaboration model to keep the entire project on track. Our assignments include power grids and transmission lines, tramways, railways, roads and bridges, renewable energy developments, and large-scale and civil engineering projects.
Managing complexity, delivering results.
A market undergoing change
The industry is clearly moving towards larger and more technically demanding projects, while the need for local civil works remains. This makes the combination of national capacity and local presence increasingly important, and this is precisely where NYAB stands strong. With local teams across the Nordic region and specialist expertise that moves wherever projects demand it, we build project organisations that remain robust throughout the entire assignment.
As projects grow in scale, we keep decision-making close to the project
We combine experienced teams with proven routines and ways of working adapted to complex assignments. At the same time, we are an organisation where decisions are made close to the project, leaders are visible and accessible, and the culture is warm and collaborative. This enables us to act quickly and efficiently, something that often makes the greatest difference in large and complex assignments.
What defines large and complex projects
Large projects are not defined by budget alone, but by their overall scope: large teams, multiple technical disciplines, extensive documentation and long project timelines. In this type of assignment, coordination, collaboration and clear processes are essential to maintain pace and ensure predictability.
Where NYAB makes the greatest difference.
Our large projects span through energy, industrial and infrastructure segments. We work regularly with large scale assignments such as:
- Power transmission and grid infrastructure: national grid expansion, new 400 kV lines, substations and cable projects
- Transport infrastructure: light rail, railway systems, road development, platforms and related urban development
- Renewable energy and power generation: large scale solar parks, wind power installations and battery storage
- Complex civil and groundworks: large foundations, extensive ground preparation, logistics and site planning for industrial, energy and infrastructure facilities
- Urban and community development: multidisciplinary projects where rail, roads, bridges, structures, water and sewage systems, foundations and traffic solutions converge

What makes us strong in complex projects.
- Structured working methods for complex assignments, with clear roles and interfaces
- Buildability and cost efficiency from day one
- Project steering and coordination across many technical disciplines
- Collaboration and joint planning in early project phases
- Project management that brings the entire process together in specialist heavy environments
Early Contractor Involvement creates stability from the start.
Many large projects benefit from establishing collaboration structures early. Through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), contractors are involved earlier in the planning and design, to optimise technical solutions, buildability, cost and risk. In practice, this means better decision-making material, fewer late changes and greater scope for innovation and sustainability. This results in a more predictable and controlled execution phase.
When collaboration drives the project.
With our collaboration model Kraftsamla as our foundation, we deliver projects from early stages through completion using an approach designed to manage complexity without losing momentum.

1
We build team security and structure
Clear processes, tools and communication forums allow risks and potential issues to be raised early.

2
We establish shared understanding
We bring together the right expertise to form a common view of goals, risks and key conditions – essential for control.

3
We plan and execute with specialists, while steering the whole
Coordination, documentation and interface management ensure all disciplines move in the same direction.

4
We follow up transparently and continuously
Structured planning and ongoing review reduce uncertainty and allow proactive decisions.

Questions about NYAB’s major projects.
What distinguishes a major project from a standard one?
More interfaces, more disciplines and longer timelines. This requires greater structure, documentation and coordination, often supported by a collaborative model.
Do you work with Early Contractor Involvement (TEM/ECI)?
Yes. In complex assignments we work in Early Contractor Involvement with Phase 1 (planning and design) and Phase 2 (execution) to optimise buildability, cost and risk.
How do you ensure control when many specialists are involved?
Through clear roles, structured ways of working and transparent follow up within our Kraftsamla collaboration model.
Which areas do your major projects cover?
NYAB covers major projects within power transmission, tramway and railway, renewable energy, complex civil works and multidisciplinary urban development.
How does your collaboration model work in practice?
NYAB’s collaboration model Kraftsamla is built on secure teams, shared understanding, continuous collaboration and transparent follow up to meet targets for quality, schedule and budget.
What role does NYAB take in large-scale and complex projects?
NYAB often plays a leading role in planning, coordinating and delivering large-scale projects. Through specialist expertise in project management, collaboration and technical coordination, we create the structure needed to keep complex projects moving forward.
