Social responsibility

Social responsibility is an important part of our sustainability efforts. We strive to conduct our business responsibly and create long-term value for our employees, customers, business partners and the communities in which we operate.

As an employer, we have a responsibility to provide a safe and healthy working environment. This is reflected in our strategic pillar, People First, which places health and safety at the heart of everything we do.

Our people are fundamental to delivering our projects, and the same health and safety standards apply to everyone working on our sites, regardless of their employer. Everyone should be able to work safely in our workplaces.

Health and Safety

Creating a safe working environment.

Our safety culture

Health and safety are an integral part of everyday work in our projects. Risk assessments are carried out before every task and form the basis for how work is planned and executed.

Health and safety performance is continuously monitored through method statements, site safety inspections and regular dialogue within project teams. The same health and safety requirements apply to everyone working on our projects, regardless of their role or employer.

By identifying risks at an early stage, reporting deviations and incidents, and promoting proactive leadership, we continuously improve the way we work.

Putting safety into practice

Health and safety are embedded in the day-to-day delivery of our projects. Our approach is based on structured ways of working, clear requirements and shared responsibility across the organisation.

Our day-to-day activities include:

  • project safety briefings
  • regular site safety inspections
  • health and safety training for managers and site supervisors
  • a shared responsibility to identify risks and take appropriate action

We hold structured safety briefings across all our sites, where project teams review procedures and discuss opportunities for improvement. All site managers have completed training in health and safety responsibilities as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen operational safety.

Safety across the value chain

In addition to NYAB’s more than 1,000 employees, we work with around 4,000 suppliers, consultants and subcontractors who contribute to our operations and projects.

Everyone working on our projects should return home safely. We make no distinction between our own employees and subcontractors when it comes to health and safety – the same standards apply to everyone working on our sites.

To achieve this, we take a structured approach throughout every project. This includes:

  • mandatory health and safety training for everyone working on our projects
  • shared site procedures for all personnel
  • regular internal and external audits, as well as site safety inspections
  • reporting and follow-up of incidents and risk observations

This approach establishes a consistent standard for health and safety across the value chain and helps create a safer, more predictable working environment across our projects.

People and culture

Developing our people.

Our business is built on the strategic pillar People First. This means creating a working environment where people can develop, collaborate and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.

Our focus includes:

  • learning and professional development
  • diversity, equity and inclusion
  • collaboration in complex project environments
  • accountability in day-to-day work

We invest in learning and continuous professional development to strengthen and retain the skills and expertise our business depends on. Our aim is to provide equitable opportunities for development and a fair foundation for career progression.

To attract and retain talented people, we offer competitive and transparent employment terms, together with a working environment that supports performance, professional development and wellbeing.

Our employee engagement survey continues to show high levels of engagement. Our Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) was 56 (58), exceeding our target and remaining above the industry average.

Community sponsorship

Supporting local communities.

To support long-term community development and strengthen the attractiveness of the local communities where we operate in Sweden and Finland, we sponsor initiatives in sport, culture and community organisations. Through these partnerships, we aim to make a positive contribution, particularly for children and young people, by supporting development, wellbeing and meaningful leisure activities.

Our sponsorship programme supports a wide range of initiatives that encourage active lifestyles and improve quality of life for young people through sport, health, culture and local community activities.

On a local level we contributed to more than 50 organisations 2025, among others:
