NYAB is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the state road network in the Överkalix and Övertorneå area, ensuring year-round accessibility, safety and functionality. The contract covers both summer and winter maintenance across a total of 938 kilometres of road within the contract area.
The contract is a multi-year maintenance agreement covering ongoing operation and maintenance activities across the state road network. Work is planned and carried out continuously, based on network requirements and prevailing conditions throughout the year.
Of the total road network, approximately 450 kilometres consist of gravel roads, placing particular demands on planning, inspections and ongoing maintenance. The work covers both the main road network and smaller roads that are essential for residents, businesses and transport operations across the area.
The scope includes winter road maintenance, inspections, corrective maintenance and other measures required to maintain a safe and accessible road network throughout the year.
Through local presence, a high level of preparedness and established working methods, NYAB is able to manage the varying conditions associated with long distances, changing weather conditions and an extensive road network. The contract strengthens the company’s position in operation and maintenance services in Norrbotten and creates opportunities for coordination with NYAB’s other activities in the region.
The project demonstrates NYAB’s capability to deliver long-term road maintenance across geographically extensive areas with varying road types and high requirements for year-round accessibility.
