Sustainability
NYAB operates in infrastructure, energy, and industrial development, areas closely linked to resilience, the transition of society and long-term investment needs. That gives us both responsibility and business opportunity.

Responsibility and value creation.
The ongoing transition, driven by increased investments in energy systems, electrification, and fossil-free production, places high demands on both expertise and execution capabilities. We contribute with specialist knowledge and the capacity to deliver, working in close collaboration with clients, partners, and public-sector stakeholders. Through better engineering, smarter material use, shorter transport, lower resource consumption and better projects methods we can turn responsible business practices into value for customers, society and environment.
Through our two business segments Civil Engineering and Consulting we supports clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, from analysis and design to project engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance.
How we create value.
Our sustainability efforts are guided by two key focus areas that strengthen both our own operations and the value we create through our projects.
Responsibility in our own operations
We are committed to high ethical standards and responsible business practices. Through a structured and proactive approach, we strive to reduce our negative impact on people and the environment throughout our value chain. This includes promoting health and safety, respecting human rights, reducing our climate impact, and improving resource efficiency.
Solutions that support societal development
Through cost-effective, high-quality solutions for the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors, we help build robust and resilient communities. Our services enable critical investments and strengthen the functionality and reliability of essential infrastructure and other critical societal systems.
Material sustainability topics.
NYAB’s material sustainability topics are based on the areas where our business has the greatest impact and where we have the greatest opportunity to support development across society and throughout our value chain.
Health and safety
Health and safety is a key priority throughout our value chain. Many of the subcontractors and suppliers we work with are involved in activities with elevated risks, such as heavy lifting, operating machinery, handling hazardous substances and working at height.
Our projects are often delivered in complex and high-risk environments, including alongside roads and railways or at high-voltage installations. This places high demands on robust safety procedures and effective occupational health and safety management throughout every stage of project delivery.
Working conditions
Working hours are closely linked to health and safety and therefore constitute a material topic for our business. Irregular working hours, shift work and overtime can increase the risk of accidents due to fatigue and reduced alertness.
This is also closely connected to human rights, including internationally recognised principles relating to working hours and the right to rest.
Collaboration and project management
Customer needs and requirements are identified at an early stage of the tender process through targeted dialogue, including interviews with customers’ sustainability representatives. This helps ensure that project planning and delivery meet expectations relating to climate impact, resource efficiency, health and safety, and working conditions.
NYAB’s collaborative project model, named Kraftsamla, complements this approach by fostering structured and close collaboration between all parties involved in the project. The model strengthens joint planning, supports clear decision-making and enables continuous monitoring of project conditions throughout the delivery process.

Sustainability through strategy.
Our strategy is built around four strategic pillars – People First, Responsibility to Customers and Society, Operational Excellence, and Profitable Growth – which together guide how we address our material sustainability topics. The strategy is designed to address our most material sustainability topics and support the creation of long-term sustainable value across the markets in which we operate.
